Monday, December 08, 2003 some things never change... the person's still a gossip, still shallow, still conniving... things that i all knew 3 years ago and somehow managed to conveniently forget. even when it smacked me in the face, i had to forgive them, because everyone makes mistakes, right? and a good friend is supportive. sometimes others notice this too, while most of the time no one knows. everyone always admires the one who is smart, funny, decent-looking, and athletic, but they don't always like the person who might not be all of these things but most of all has a good heart. i'm just as guilty of this as the next person... i've always bristled a little at the east campus stereotypes of west campus people, but you know what? i've been meeting some of these girls in mccormick, and i hate them too. these girls are smart but they don't have a backbone. being different simply for its sake is stupid, but i admire people who are what they want to be and aren't ashamed. MIT has its fair share of conformists on BOTH campuses, but the percentage is far fewer than on others. I think this is part of the reason why I'm happy here... P/NR is both good and bad. It ends up being consolation when it put me into the rut of not working in the first place.... dammit. --posted by M @ 6:23 PM | 0 comments 0 Comments: |
