Sunday, February 29, 2004 bosmun is over. i have a pset due tomorrow and i not only have i not started it, but i also have no idea what it's about. so of course, i'm going to blog about my weekend instead. bosmun '04 was lots of fun... definitely made me think twice about double major or minoring in 17. i think at one point i was even considering not minoring in it anymore... just making it my hass concentration and minoring in 5 instead. but now i'm so torn... anyway, some funny parts about my committee, Middle Eastern Summit: -"Who are Israel's allies?" --Israeli delegate in a note sent to his "home gov't" (aka MES crisis staff) -"Can't we just, like, buy more helicopters or something?" -- Palestinian delegate to home gov't, in response to being told that she couldn't do something -"Um, 5,000 people are dead in Syria" "WHAT????" -- Me & Sanouri's response to Syrian delegate reading home gov't note after being told by crisis that U.S. hadn't invaded Syria yet -"THAT'S western business attire???"-- MES staff commenting on female chairs & delegates wearing studded belts, tight, frilly mini-skirts, and other interesting articles of clothing -"Oh look, that was the really drunk girl on the dance floor last night"--Sanouri's comment on a winning delegate hrm yea... so a lot of delegates were really unprepared... so much so that we had to actually suspend debate for like, an hour on fri night just to hold a Q&A session. but all in all, it could have been a lot worse... and once we got going, it was a bit better. even though we were practically telling them what to do. i think next year i'd really like to be on a cabinet committee... or maybe be on crisis staff, if i can work w/ someone i know. :-P oh yea, don't stick your finger in the hinge of a heavy door that's closing. you'd think that's obvious, but i guess for people like me it's not. now my thumb is purple b/c it's bruised and blood pooled & clotted under my nail. yay. --posted by M @ 4:06 PM | 0 comments 0 Comments: |
