Saturday, August 28, 2004 there's an episode of pinky and the brain which i remember absolutely nothing else about except that brain goes running around singing "AAANNNNGGSST" at the top of his lungs in a melodramatic, and, well, angst-y fashion. i've got two things to say about this memory. one, why don't they make cartoons like they used to? all the stuff on major network teevee right now is a rip-off of pokemon or overly disney/nickelodeon-style little-kid-friendly. i miss all the pop culture snarkiness of pinky/brain, animaniacs, and tiny toons. then there was the pure old-fashioned cleverness of looney tunes... i mean, who doesn't love a cartoon that incorporates wagner in an entertaining fashion? point made. but secondly, this summer has been filled with a lot of ups and downs full of angst. and yeah, i know i say this at least once a year and i'll probably forget all about it in another year, but i feel like i'm at another crossroads in life, and it absolutely blows. most likely i'll just plow through it and hopefully come out all right on the other end like i usually do. wallowing in self-pity is a dangerous thing, but after all that thought, hopefully i'll have learned a few things this summer and will remember them in the coming year. --posted by M @ 1:10 AM | 0 comments 0 Comments: |
