Tuesday, January 11, 2005 does it make me a hick if I like a little banjo in my music? so far, my favorite (Western?) stringed instruments include: (upright) bass, electric bass, and banjo... the guitar is great for its all-purpose-y-ness (and I totally just made up a word)... but it's not cool unless you have an ego and like being in the center of the spotlight (helloooo, lead vocalists). upright bass makes any pop song jump from 'eh' to 'really pretty', electric bassists are just cool (I think it's a scientific law that 'bassists must the chill, laid-back, nice person in the band'... which is somehow transferred to the bass line)... and the banjo is just fun. and, i have a new super duper favorite CD- 'daydreams'/joe pisapia. i love the rambling, almost quaint but not dolly-parton-country feel of his songs... they remind me of his work w/ guster on "jesus on the radio". i have a feeling when i get this i'm going to put it in rotation until i'm so sick of it that i won't bother listening to it for the next few weeks... which, strangely enough, is the highest compliment a CD can receive from me. :-D and thus ends a really pointless post rambling about stringed instruments and people that play them. i've been sleeping too much... time to regain the productivity streak i had a few days ago. finishing = traveling (?). must finish! --posted by M @ 4:28 AM | 0 comments 0 Comments: |
